About Bathinda Constituency

The Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 543 parliamentary constituencies in the Indian state of Punjab. It is the administrative headquarters of the Bathinda district. Bathinda is located in the southwestern part of Punjab and is situated in the Malwa region. The city is often referred to as "City of Lakes" due to the presence of several artificial and natural lakes in the area, including the Bathinda Lake.

The constituency is home to a diverse population, including Punjabis and Sikhs, who make up a significant portion of the electorate. There are a total nine Vidhan Sabha constituencies in Bathinda Lok Sabha Constituency; Lambi, Bathinda rural, Bathinda urban, Bucho, Talwandi Sabo, Maur, Mansa, Sardulgarh and Budlada.

Bathinda is known for its fertile agricultural land. Agriculture is a major occupation in this region. Farmers in the region grow a variety of crops, including wheat, rice, cotton and sugarcane. Given its significant agricultural production, there is a presence of agro-processing industries in Bathinda. This includes rice mills, cotton ginning and pressing units, and sugar mills.

Bathinda is home to one of India's largest oil refineries, the Guru Gobind Singh Refinery, operated by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). This refinery plays a crucial role in meeting the demand for petroleum products in northern India and contributes to the local economy. The region has a thermal power plant, the Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant, which generates electricity for the state of Punjab. The power plant is an important source of energy for both industrial and domestic use.

Bathinda has historical and cultural significance. The Qila Mubarak, an ancient fort, is a prominent historical site in the city. The city is also known for its traditional Punjabi culture and festivals.
