Harsimrat Kaur Badal is a fierce voice for the cause of women in the parliamentary sessions. She uses her platform to raise crucial concerns related to female foeticide, women empowerment, and gender equality. Not only confined to words, she has also translated her thoughts into tangible actions through her NGO, Nanhi Chhaan.
She has always been fearless in raising the core concerns of Indian farmers in the parliament. Not leaving any stone unturned, she focuses on a wide spectrum of challenges faced by farmers, including income disparities, climate change-induced problems, storage issues leading to the rotting of produce, and the alarming depletion of water tables that adversely affect irrigation. Notably, she raised her voice in the Parliament, demanding compensation for the Punjab farmers who were severely affected by the catastrophic floods that wreaked havoc in North India.
Harsimrat Kaur Badal has a deeply personal connection to the tragic episode of the 1984 Anti-Sikh riots, as she herself was a witness to the horrors of those times. Whenever she gets the opportunity to speak in Parliament, she passionately raises her voice for the unfortunate victims. Dedicated to getting justice for the Sikh community, she speaks fearlessly to ensure that the atrocities of that period are not forgotten, and that those responsible are held accountable.
